City Break Rome - Holiday Shopping Haul

I'm extremely excited to be visiting Rome next week, I can't wait to visit the beautiful city and see some of the most famous sights in the world.

I will of course be blogging about my time there, reviewing where I am going to stay and also offering up an itinerary based on my research and experiences there.

But as well as rigorous holiday planning in the lead up to the trip, there also comes the planning of what to wear!

It's a tricky time of year as it could be blazing heat, or there could be rain, or chilly temperatures.

I figured my holiday wardrobe could do with updating so gave myself an excuse to go shopping!

Here's what I bought:

Bikini Primark Top £6 Bottoms £4

I cannot wait to wear this bikini this summer! It's so silky and beautiful and the pattern is so feminine and pretty! When I brought it home away from the hustle and bustle of the Primark shopping experience I actually forgot where I had bought it from as it looks much much more expensive than a tenner for the set!

I wouldn't say I've been particularly excited about getting my body out on the beach any time soon as I've not been the healthiest mode recently but in this baby who cares! I can't wait to show it off!

White Lightweight Embroidered Neck Vest Top River Island £25

I love this top, its an extremely flattering fit as it angles around the neckline and it is long and flowy, perfect for keeping cool in the sun.

I plan on wearing this for a full on day of sight seeing in Rome, paired with shorts or a skirt but I intend to get my use out of it for the foreseeable future, to wear with jeans casually or with some smart trousers for work when the sun is out!

White Short Sleeve Lace Tshirt  River Island £35

This is the prettiest thing ever, From the gorgeous lacy cut out top to the silky camisole underneath this is a really beautiful garment. There are even lovely little buttons down the back. I can't wait to wear it with a long maxi skirt, or shorts, or jeans, or anything really, it will look great with lots of different looks. I would definitely say it's more cream than white though.

Cream Crochet Scallop Shorts New Look £17.99

These feel lovely to touch and the stretchy waistband means they are a really comfortable fit. Perfect for holidays when you don't want anything to tight or uncomfortable. I think these are casual enough to wear to the beach over a bikini, but fancy enough to doll up at night with a nice top.

Navy Chino Shorts New Look £14,99

I've been looking for a pair of smartish yet causal shorts for a while and these tick that box for me. The only shorts I ever seem to wear are denim so these are a nice breakaway from that but still casual enough for every day. I plan to get my wear out of these in Rome, possibly pairing them with the white River Island top. I love the addition of the little belt, I think touches like that really make a difference when I'm out shopping and its something I could wear with other items on its own.

Black Floral Print Shorts  New Look £14.99

I wasn't crazy about these on the hanger but when I tried them on there was no way I wasn't getting them! They are a really comfortable, flattering fit, nice and flowing but without looking big. I also bought the top below to wear with them as they look great together. The slightly high waisted fit is great for holding that little bit of tum in for a perfect silhouette too!

Black Double Strap Layered Cami New Look £12.99

This top is lovely and floaty, and hides everything I need hiding! The neckline and straps are really flattering and I think this would be great over shorts or a skirt like I intend to wear it in Rome, or under a blazer, or cardigan for work. The price is really fair too, they also do this top in khaki and cream and I'm thinking I might have to indulge in the full range!

Playsuit H&M £12.99

I think this is a real bargain. I love the summery, floral print. It's strappy, its short, its just made for the warmer weather and can be a cool and casual choice, or serves as a perfect base for a ton of accessories, wedges and glam! I especially like the little criss cross detail to the back. I'm not sure I'll get my wear out of it in Rome, except maybe if I head for one of the local beaches, but I've saving it for Portugal for sure.

Short Twill Shorts  H&M £7.99

Speaking of bargains, ahem, did you see the price of these shorts? Super cheap, great quality and they make me feel like Lara Croft. What more could I ask for?

I also bought three pairs of sunglasses.. I know, it might sound extravagant but wait til you hear the prices! I've been wanting a pair of decent, designer sunglasses for a long time but I just can't commit on a style. Plus I know I'm probably going to sit on the them or break them, or lose them so I'm putting that off for a while.

The bottom two pairs are from Primark and were £2 each I believe or could have been even cheaper!  Primark is great for trying styles at prices you don't mind losing them for!

I've always fancied an aviator style so I thought I'd give these a whirl, I also got a style similar to the Rayban Clubmaster just to give me a change.

Then for a bit of a sturdier, well made pair I found the top ones in M&S for £15! They feel like a decent pair and I think they will last me a long time. I like the cat eye feel to them and will be keeping them in my bag all summer.

So thats my city break haul! Hope you found it useful/interesting. I can't wait to actually get out there to Rome and wear all this stuff.

Let me know which are your favourites, how you would style them and if you own or are planning on buying any of the items on here!

Happy shopping! xxx
